Is It Transformation Yet?

Digg It

The Mental Health Transformation Project is on the hook to show results just as much as any of our partners - maybe even more so. As recipients of federal grant money via the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Project is required to justify the use of its funds within federal tracking guidelines defined under the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA).

There are eight GPRA Measures that the Mental Health Transformation Project team must track.

What have you done for me lately?

As most employees know our paycheck is based on performance. Our manager wants to know, "What have you done for me lately?" In other words, if you meet your deadlines and create a great product you are paid accordingly. Under GPRA guidelines, the federal government is no different. They need to know what they are getting for their money.

The Mental Health Transformation Project team must track eight GPRA measures, most of them against its Comprehensive Mental Health Plan (CMHP) which is essentially the charter plan for the Project. The eight measures are:

  1. Increase percent of policy changes completed as a consequence of the CMHP.
  2. Increase number of persons in the mental health care and related workforce who have been trained in service improvements recommended by the CMHP.
  3. Increase percent of financing policy changes completed as a consequence of the CMHP.
  4. Increase percentage of organizational changes completed as a consequence of the CMHP.
  5. Increase the number of organizations that regularly obtain and analyze data relevant to the goals of the CMHP.
  6. Increase the number of consumers and family members that are members of statewide consumer- and family-run networks.
  7. Increase the number of programs implementing practices consistent with the CMHP.
  8. Reportable non-GPRA activities.
